Front of School renovation project
Renovation update- week 3
I hope you have all had a chance to look at the floor plans and the drawings to see the changes we will be making. We have been waiting a long time to be able to enhance the older parts of our school. Our planning is going well.
I did want to draw your attention and also reassure you that as part of our ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of our community, the renovation project for the front of school will include the removal of some older builder materials, some of which contains asbestos.
As we plan improvements that support the evolving needs of our students and community, it’s important that all materials in our learning environment meet current safety standards. Removing these outdated materials now ensures that we can move forward with confidence, creating beautiful and safe spaces for years to come.
Please be assured that this process will be managed with the utmost care, in line with stringent government safety regulations. The removal will take place during the school holidays to ensure there is no risk of exposure to students, staff, or families. All works will be carried out by licensed asbestos removalists, and once completed, an independent hygienist will conduct a full inspection and issue a clearance before anyone returns to the space.
We understand that the word "asbestos" can raise concern, but we want to reassure you that many older buildings across Australia contain small amounts of bonded asbestos materials, which are not dangerous when left undisturbed. What matters is how these materials are managed and removed — and we are following every precaution and regulation to ensure your family's wellbeing remains at the centre of all we do.
We are partnering with Reitsma Construction and Nigel Bell Architect, who have a wealth of experience between them to ensure that we deliver a safe process resulting in a renewed and enhanced school.
We appreciate your support as we care for and renew the spaces that hold our children’s learning and growth. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Erica at erica@kindlehill.nsw.edu or Andrew at business@kindlehill.nsw.edu.au
